My Weather Rant

There’s more to life than the freakin weather. I think there’s a ridiculous amount of time and energy wasted on the subject of how cold it is, how hot it is, whether it’s raining, snowing, sleeting, muggy, dry, cloudy or sunny. “Hot out, isn’t it?,” “Sure wish the Spring would get here.”, “What’s the weather like today?”…

There is an entire cable TV station devoted to it. The news spends about 10 minutes (or does it just feel like 10 minutes) on the weather, and the fact is, there is absolutely nothing we can do to change it. I think when I grow up (hah!) I want to be a meteorologist. You get to be on TV, you make lots of money and it doesn’t matter if you are right or wrong. Sounds like a pretty deluxe deal to me.

An awful lot of people even choose where they live by the weather – not the theatre, music, cuisine, art, or museums available. And some folks that I can think of go to the hottest regions of the country and then complain about how hot it is. They never go outside at all! They don’t go anywhere there isn’t air conditioning (and then complain about the draft).

I’m tired of it, but just like the weather, I can’t do a dang thing about it.

Yours in annoyance,

RR
